An 8-day-old baby girl died after she was mauled by a wolf-hybrid on Wednesday. The attack happened in her Virginia home, according to Lee County Sheriff Gary Parsons.
Reports say the baby was laying in a bassinet at the time of the mauling, with local stations reporting that the infant sustained serious injuries to her torso.
WCYB reports: A family member transported the child to a medical facility in Big Stone Gap and evaluated. She was then taken by medical helicopter to Tennessee where she passed away just after 4 p.m. from injuries sustained to her upper body.
Parsons said police are considering pressing criminal charges against the child’s parents, according to the station.
The dog was euthanized soon after the attack, according to WJHL.
