Yet another Bernie fan and anti-Trump person bashing America. Earlier this week, 22-year-old Krystal Lake wore a hat that read “America Was Never Great” to her work shift at Home Depot in Staten Island, NY. Customers complained of the obnoxious apparel, clearly meant to instigate those who resonate with Trump’s famous saying “Make America Great Again.” And basically, it’s unpatriotic.
Lake was asked by Home Depot managers to leave her shift, saying the hat was inappropriate and that she was violating company policy. While apparently she has not been reprimanded, Lake has not been called back in to work a shift at the home goods store. Despite Home Depot’s response, many disgruntled customers took to Twitter to claim Home Depot had lost their business and should be boycotted. This may not bode well for a co-founder of Home Depot who just recently endorsed Trump.
Twitter user District of Criminals called Lake’s hat ‘an insult to vets and all Americans’. “I wonder if Home Depot considers the HUGE % of their customers who are patriots, vets, family of vets & military,” she tweeted. Another twitter user Tim Young wrote “Dear @HomeDepot employee wearing this hat. If it was “never great,” then why haven’t you moved yet? Sincerely, Tim.”
Lake told reporters she has only worn the hat to work this one time, but ‘definitely’ intends to do so again. “The point of the hat was to say America needs changing and improvement. I don’t think it’s a positive message to say, ‘Let’s look to the past,'” said Lake.
