A gunman shot two men at a Birmingham, Alabama, hospital Wednesday night, wounding both before turning the gun on himself, according to police. Reports indicate the shooter was later found dead.

The incident occurred at UAB Highlands, a campus of UAB Hospital and part of the medical school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

From the Associated Press: Capt. H.R. Watson of Birmingham Fire and Rescue told news reporters that two victims were shot and wounded, and the shooter then shot himself. He said one victim was in critical condition with multiple wounds.

He said authorities are unsure of the shooter’s relation to the victims and whether the victims worked at the hospital. He added that police “still have a lot to find out.”

ABC News reports that Birmingham police Lt. Pete Williston said the suspect was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police have updated the press, saying the scene is secure. Authorities issued an “all clear” alert at around 7:45 p.m. local time, after telling the students to shelter-in-place.
