The Ohio senate race will pit the Republican nominee against Senator Sherrod Brown, the Democrat seeking re-election. Brown, according to the New York Times, is the only member of his party holding high office in the state.
Battling for the Republican nomination were Representative Jim Renacci and Mike Gibbons, a Cleveland-area businessman.
According to CNBC, Rep. Jim Renacci is projected to win the primary, setting him up to take on Brown in November.
Renacci, a wealthy auto dealer, had President Donald J. Trump’s support. Last month, Trump tweeted: “I need Jim very badly to help our agenda.”
