Democrat Randy Bryce is one of the candidates challenging Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan (Wis.) for his congressional seat. On Sunday, Bryce launched an attack on Ivanka Trump, the president’s daughter, insinuating she might be interested in an extramarital affair with another nation’s leader.
Bryce tweeted a message to Ivanka’s husband, Jared Kushner, on Sunday, while speculation mounted as to who would be implicated in indictments resulting from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, which is focused on alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.
While Monday’s indictment ultimately turned out to be for president-elect Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort, Bryce’s tweet indicated Mueller might have his sights set on Kushner.
He mockingly reassured Kushner that whatever happened Monday, Ivanka would “be okay,” and potentially be attended to by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Bryce included a picture of Ivanka smiling at Trudeau, writing: “Don’t worry [Jared Kushner], regardless of what might go down – she’ll be okay. #MuellerTime.”
Both Ivanka Trump and Canada’s prime minister are married.

Twitter users, including Cathy Myers, another Democratic candidate for the congressional seat in Wisconsin, found the tweet offensive. Myers wrote, “You don’t need to vote for someone who thinks women need a man to be okay.”

Twitter users urged Bryce to delete the tweet, saying it was inappropriate. User @MotherStatue wrote: “Dude’s married, got a bunch of kids… this is in bad taste.”
What you are insinuating is that the Prime Minister of Canada is having an affair
You are better than that & you should delete it pic.twitter.com/NbP5c4VpVt

This is gross. I want to support someone running against Ryan, but I can’t support gross misogyny.
