Democratic Rep. John Lewis (Ga.) indulged in a case of wishful thinking when he tweeted out a happy birthday message to “Madame President Hillary Clinton” on Tuesday afternoon.
Despite the fact that President Donald Trump defeated Clinton in the 2016 presidential election, Lewis prefers to pretend that the failed candidate is really the commander-in-chief and wants to believe that she is celebrating her 70th birthday in the White House.

Lewis was one of the dozens of members of Congress who boycotted Trump’s inauguration in January.
Trump responded to Lewis’ decision not to attend the event, writing on Twitter that he should focus on the “burning and crime infested inner-cities” rather than boycott his inauguration.
Lewis’ birthday message followed a widely-circulated tweet from 2016 on Clinton’s Twitter account, wishing herself “Happy birthday to this future president” accompanied by a picture from her younger days.
Former President Bill Clinton also wished Hillary a happy birthday, tweeting, “70 has never looked so beautiful. Happy birthday, Hillary Clinton!”
