NBC 4 in New York is reporting that a helicopter has crash-landed in the East River Sunday evening. There were five passengers on board, according to law enforcement sources.

Dramatic social media videos (see below) appear to show the helicopter crashing into the water near sunset.

NBC reportsThe private helicopter went down near East 96th Street and the FDR Drive around 7:15 p.m., according to police. 

The sources said one person was removed from the water and rushed to Bellevue Hospital in serious condition.

First responders said a search for the other passengers was in progress.

NYPD harbor and aviation units are on the scene, and divers have been sent into the water, according to the sources.

The report says the helicopter has been recovered.
