Hillary Clinton is working hard to erase Bernie Sanders from the spotlight. Fox News invited both Democratic candidates eyeing the nomination to debate before the all-important California primary, and Sen. Sanders had agreed last week. However, today, the Clinton campaign has turned down the invitation.
“We have declined Fox News’ invitation to participate in a debate in California. As we have said previously, we plan to compete hard in the remaining primary states, particularly California, while turning our attention to the threat a Donald Trump presidency poses. We believe that Hillary Clinton’s time is best spent campaigning and meeting directly with voters across California and preparing for a general election campaign that will ensure the White House remains in Democratic hands,” Clinton spokesperson Jennifer Palmieri said in a statement.
This has angered many Sanders supporters, as well as Sanders himself. The Vermont senator revealed Hillary had agreed to a fourth debate earlier this year back in January, but is clearly not following through on the promise.
