As Election Day looms nearer, coverage has been given to presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump on his choices to fill certain roles if he wins the presidency, such as his choice for abortion and his choice for handling the Muslim immigration ban. However, Hillary Clinton publicly stated at her rally in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky who she wants leading the front on the nation’s economy: her own husband and former President Bill Clinton. While she did not state if he would hold a cabinet position, Clinton made it aware to the crowd the reason for her choice:
“My husband, who I’m going to put in charge of revitalizing the economy, ’cause you know he knows how to do it. And especially in places like coal country and inner cities and other parts of our country that have really been left out. I’ve told my husband he’s got to come out of retirement and be in charge of this because you know he’s got more ideas a minute than anybody I know.”
While this certainly turns some heads, it comes as no surprise Hillary wants to capitalize on her husband’s involvement since he left office in 2001 with high approval ratings. For Trump, however, it gives him ammunition to target his campaign ad attacks at the Clintons collectively.
In an interview with the New York Times, Trump says he plans to go after Bill on his infidelities as well as Hillary being an enabler and a bully to the women involved, and after her fundamental mess-ups like Benghazi and her e-mail practices.
