The left has been unrelenting in demanding that Donald Trump release report of money he raised at the fundraiser for veterans which he hosted in Iowa earlier this year. What Hillary Clinton has given is being noted as well.
At a press conference Tuesday, Trump dared reporters, “Find out how much Hillary Clinton’s given to the veterans.” Based on public records available, Breitbart News has published a listing of known donations the Clinton Family Foundation has donated to veteran groups over the past 7 years. The total sum of the report is $70,000.
Trump’s fundraiser from the single event in Iowa netted $5.6 million, which included $1 million from Trump himself. This does not include any past contributions from Trump over the years.
Breitbart News reported that according to public records of the Clinton Family Foundation, the family donated $25,000 in 2009, $20,000 in 2010, $5,000 in 2011, $15,000 in 2012, and in 2014, they donated $5,000.
In addition, according to Clinton’s released tax returns, the couple gave almost $15 million to charity over the past 8-year period, but it is unknown how much of that, if any went to veterans’ groups.
Hillary says she has done a lot to help veterans, however. When asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper if she has given money to vets, and what she has done for veterans, Clinton answered:
“Well, I, of course, have given money to veterans’ charities, and John McCain and I actually helped to raise funding for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund at Brooke Army Medical Center to build a rehabilitation facility for veterans to get the very best world-class rehabilitation services. I’ve also worked starting as First Lady to deal with some of the problems veterans had, whether it was Agent Orange or whether it was the mysterious illnesses they were bringing back from the Gulf War. I worked as a Senator on the Armed Services Committee on many things. For example, increasing death benefits for families of the fallen from just $12,000 to $100,000, and I worked with Sen. Lindsey Graham to expand healthcare to National Guard and Reserve members, so much of the work I’ve done has meant tens of millions of dollars in increased benefits to veterans and their families as well as a personal commitment.”
