It’s been around two weeks since presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump tweeted a Cinco de Mayo picture of himself eating a taco bowl. The backlash from some sensitive liberals made the tweet controversial with its caption: “Happy #CincoDeMayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics!” However, it’s old news, and everyone has moved on with their lives.
Not for failed presidential candidate Jeb Bush, however, who still has no plans to support Trump. On Tuesday, Bush’s comments on the matter through an interview with Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad made way into the headlines. Not only does Bush lambast his archenemy Trump, who destroyed Bush in the debates earlier this year, but he makes a rather outlandish comparison regarding Trump’s tweet.
“Showing your sensitivity by eating an American dish is the most insensitive thing you can do,” Bush said. “To say this, next to all things he already said, is a further insult. It’s like eating a watermelon and saying, ‘I love African-Americans.'”
Odd. Regardless of the former Florida Governor’s stereotypical and non-relevant comparison, Bush clearly has not checked the polls lately on where Trump stands with hispanics. Stick to just saying “no comment,” Jeb.
