Comparing special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe to the old Communist KGB, Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett told Sean Hannity Wednesday evening that the FBI has clearly been used as a “political weapon” in the left’s effort to take down the Trump presidency.

“I think we now know that the Mueller investigation is illegitimate and corrupt,” said Jarrett, a former Court TV anchor, “and the FBI has become America’s secret police. Secret surveillance, wiretapping, intimidation, harassment and threats. It’s like the old KGB that comes for you in the dark of the night, banging through your door.”

“By the way, this is not a game, this is not hyperbole you are using here,” Hannity noted.

“No. Ask Paul Manafort, they came for him and broke through his front door,” Jarrett pointed out.

“And if it can happen to him, Gregg…” Hannity suggested.

“It can happen to all of us,” Jarrett replied. “Absolutely.”

The commentary comes after two members of Mueller’s investigative team, Peter Strzok and Andrew Weissmann, were found to have harbored a biased attitude against Trump, as was evidenced by text and email messages they’d sent in the past.

“The FBI is a shadow government now,” Jarrett said, pointing to the fact that Peter Strzok was allowed to lead both the Hillary Clinton investigation and the Mueller investigation despite his “corrupt political motives.”

Jarrett further pointed out that Strzok is not the only Trump-hating attorney hell-bent on impeaching the president. “We now know it. The Congress has the emails, but he is the tip of the iceberg. There are others, especially Andrew Weissmann and, as you pointed out, Jeannie Rhee.”

Fox News is reporting that Rhee, a former Obama Justice Department counselor, was hired by Mueller this past summer to work on the probe.

In his ongoing defense of Trump, Hannity has been focusing on investigators’ texts and emails on his program this week.

On Wednesday night, he described the Mueller investigation as “something you would see in a banana republic.”

Trump has weighed in on the Mueller controversy, as well, recently, retweeting several reports over the weekend suggesting that the Obama-era FBI was corrupted in favor of Hillary Clinton.
