Maxine Waters on Tuesday said that it was “absolutely ridiculous” that her statements bashing Trump have been construed as her wishing physical harm on the president, and that they only meant she thinks he should be impeached. The California congresswoman has arguably been the most outspoken of all Democratic politicians against the president.

Her statement was in response to accusations that, in saying we need to “take him out,” she meant attacking the president. However, while making her defense, she continued to use statements that suggested aggression, such as “on the front lines.”

During an interview on CNN, Waters said she was not talking about doing any physical harm to the president with her recent comments.

“That’s absolutely ridiculous, nobody believes that a 79-year-old grandmother who is a congresswoman and who has been in Congress and politics all of these years talking about doing any harm,” she said on CNN’s “New Day.”
“The only harm that I might be doing to the president is I want him impeached.”
“Everybody knows that I’m on the front lines— not talking about any physical harm to anybody,” she said.
