Democratic mega-donor and billionaire environmentalist Tom Steyer announced this week that he is spending “well over $10 million” on a television ad campaign in an attempt to get President Trump impeached.

Steyer is going all out with the effort, having already launched his video ad on major television networks, including Fox News. The video strategically starts out with a scene from President Trump’s inauguration, then flashes to a clip of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, as if the two are connected in some way. (See the video below.)

Steyer does the voice-over in the video, informing the public of what a “threat” and a “danger” Trump is to America. In the ad, he says “people in Congress and his own administration know that this president is a clear and present danger who is mentally unstable and armed with nuclear weapons.”

His website,, opens with the video and a petition for people to sign, along with a lengthy explanation of why he believes Trump should be ousted.

Steyer penned a letter to lawmakers, asking for Trump’s impeachment, writing, “This is not a time for ‘patience’ — Donald Trump is not fit for office. It is evident that there is zero reason to believe he can be a good president.”

He concluded the letter by saying: “I am asking you today to make public your position on the impeachment of Donald Trump, and to urge your federal representatives to remove him from office at once. Every day he remains in reach of the nuclear codes is another day for him to menace the citizens you serve and protect.”

A headline on his website reads:

We must stop Trump now.

  • Trump’s team and family members continually lie about their dealings with Russia.
  • Trump has discussed pardoning his “aides, family members, and even himself.”
  • Trump threatens our national security by refusing to stand up to Russia and engaging in brinkmanship with North Korea.

President Trump is clearly not amused. He shot out a message on Twitter Friday morning that said, “Wacky & totally unhinged Tom Steyer, who has been fighting me and my Make America Great Again agenda from beginning, never wins elections!”

Fox News reported: “According to, Steyer donated to Hillary Clinton; Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., who has repeatedly called for Trump’s impeachment; and Democratic candidates for Senate.”

Steyer is reportedly considering a run for governor of California in 2018 or the White House in 2020.

Ten million is pocket change for the billionaire environmentalist; he spent $90 million trying to stop Trump during the 2016 election season. Forbes’ profile on Steyer includes the following:

Tom Steyer spent 26 years running hedge fund Farallon Capital, then sold his stake in late 2012 and switched his focus to politics and the environment. The San Francisco resident spent about $90 million to back select Democratic candidates and climate change in the 2016 election cycle, only to see Donald Trump win as President and Republicans in control of both houses of Congress. He is still a passionate advocate of clean energy and has been one of the most vocal opponents of the proposed Keystone XL oil pipeline. Steyer and his wife, Kat Taylor, have donated tens of millions of dollars to alma maters Stanford and Yale for “advanced energy” research.
