House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D) says everyone could learn important lessons from drag queens, and that President Donald J. Trump is “lip syncing some of his policies.”
Pelosi will be a judge on the upcoming season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars.” Speaking about her appearance to the Hollywood Reporter, she said that politicians – and others -can take a cue from drag Queens.
“This idea of people believing in themselves, being themselves, taking pride in themselves, is not just a lesson for politicians but for everyone in the country,” Pelosi said. “And that’s why I was so excited and couldn’t resist being on the show.”
“RuPaul’s Drag Race”, which airs on VH1, features drag queens competing in challenges. One of those challenges involves the final two contestants competing in a lip-sync battle.
Pelosi was asked which song she’d like to lip-sync to against President Trump and Pelosi proceeded to slam him for his policies.
Pelosi said: ”You know what? Donald Trump’s policies, the respect I think his administration should have for the LGBTQ community, that’s more important than the fun we might have about his hair or any song he might lip sync,” Pelosi said. “Though I do think he’s lip-syncing some of his policies, because when you talk to him, he says, ‘I really am with you on this,’ and then his policy goes and does something else.”
Pelosi was also asked if she’d like Trump to ”sashay away,” a line host RuPaul uses when dismissing failed contestants. In another slam on the president, Pelosi said that on a scale of 1-10, her desire to have the president sashay away “goes well beyond 10.”
