Protests have erupted across Gaza in response to President Trump’s historic and hugely controversial declaration that Jerusalem will be the new home for the U.S. Embassy in Israel.

The Israel Defense Forces on Thursday said it was deploying battalions to the West Bank as reinforcement, as clashes and scuffles broke out across the West Bank and East Jerusalem, in anger over Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Palestinians were fuming over Trump’s Wednesday speech, in which he defied worldwide warnings and insisted that after repeated failures to achieve peace, a new approach was long overdue. He described his decision as an acknowledgment of reality since Jerusalem is the seat of Israel’s government.

Palestinians marched in several West Bank cities and threw rocks and firebombs at troops in some places. Scuffles were also reported at the Damascus Gate in East Jerusalem.

In Gaza, at least two Palestinians were reported injured by Israeli fire.

The terror group Hamas has called for days of anger to last through Friday. In response, the United States put out a warning to Israel to tone down its own celebrating due to concerns over Americans being attacked. More details about the warning — click here.
