Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio has decided to simply just change his mind: it turns out, he will run for re-election to the Senate, he told Fox News in an interview airing Wednesday.

“I know people in politics don’t like to admit they’ve changed their mind, and people in Florida deserve to know why,” Rubio said. The failed presidential candidate says he has found his work in the Senate “rewarding” and no matter who wins the presidential election, the Senate must serve as a “check and balance” to the executive branch. In other words, if Donald Trump wins, Rubio wants to be there to serve as a legislative barrier.

Following the terrorist attack at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, however, Rubio implied he was re-evaluating his decision. Rubio told radio host Hugh Hewitt during an interview last week that “It really gives you pause to think a little bit about, you know, your service to your country and where you can be most useful to your country.”

Well, this is a clear change of pace considering his recent sassy tweet:

I have only said like 10000 times I will be a private citizen in January.
