Ted Cruz blew it tonight. In his entire speech, Cruz only added one little line to his prepared remarks: “I congratulate Donald Trump on winning the nomination last night,” Cruz said, to big applause.

But he still didn’t go so far as to endorse Donald Trump. Millions of Americans waded through the speech to hear the magic words that never came. Cruz broke his oath to endorse the Republican nominee.

“And like each of you, I want to see the principles that our party believes prevail in November,” he added off-script as a segue to avoid talking about Trump.

The delegates didn’t seem to notice that Cruz never said Trump would make that happen. Cruz got a huge welcome from the crowd when he walked out on stage, and had their full attention as he talks about the Dallas police officers who tragically lost their lives. However, despite his powerful rhetoric about how dangerous Hillary Clinton and President Obama are, he failed to cement the speech with credibility: the endorsement.

How does he expect to stop Hillary’s dangerous presidential prospects if he does not endorse her only challenger? Despite the roar of the crowd around his incredibly articulate and detailed speech, Cruz failed America tonight. He let his ego and pride get in the way, and essentially joins the ranks of John Kasich in betraying the American people.
