It is billionaire versus billionaire in the latest rounds of media manipulation accusations. Earlier today, presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump came out swinging at Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity. Trump claims the Washington Post, which is also owned by Bezos, has been a tool used by the fellow billionaire as means to influence corporate level tax policy.
“Every hour we’re getting calls from reporters from The Washington Post asking ridiculous questions,” Trump told Hannity. “And I will tell you, this is owned as a toy by Jeff Bezos … Amazon is getting away with murder, tax-wise. He’s using The Washington Post for power so that the politicians in Washington don’t tax Amazon like they should be taxed.”
It has been confirmed as well Washington Post Associate Editor Bob Woodard has assembled a 20-person journalist team to critically analyze and inspect every aspect of Trump’s life, claiming his business deals are “more complex than the CIA.” Talk about obsession.
Woodard was accredited as a high-level investigator in the Nixon Watergate scandal. Bezos has yet to respond to Trump’s comments.
