In an act of pure kindness back in August of 2015, it was reported Donald Trump gave much needed financial support to Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, the soldier held in a Mexican jail for 214 days. “I was proud to help Sgt. Tahmooressi and this showed what we can do when we work together,” Trump had said to Fox News host Greta van Susteren.
Greta van Susteren had confirmed the report, and even mentioned how President Obama ignored Tahmooressi’s plea for aid. “In all seriousness, Donald did help out Sgt. Tahmooressi. He sent him some money to help him jump start his life. Sgt. Tahmooressi rotted in a Mexican prison for 214 days. President Obama wouldn’t even pick up the phone to help,” said Greta in her news segment.
Tahmooressi was finally released when a Mexican judge was ultimately convinced to do so on humanitarian grounds. The marine’s lengthy prison stay became a notable failure under the Obama administration, culminating in a congressional hearing that was highly critical of Obama Administration efforts to secure his release and Mexico’s refusal to let him go.
It’s relieving to see Trump cared enough to lend a helping hand. Yesterday, we reported a story of Trump helping out a three-year-old boy who was critically ill get the medical attention he desperately needed.
