A young man wearing a red Trump hat was chased by a mob of Black Lives Matter protesters in El Cajon, California Wednesday.

The crowd was protesting the killing of a Olango, a 38-year-old Ugandan refugee with an extensive criminal record, who was shot and killed by police on Wednesday after he ignored their demands to surrender and pointed a device in a shooting pose at an officer.

The man wearing the “Make America Great Again” hat was assaulted, his hat knocked off his head, then was chased and beaten by the enraged crowd before finally being rescued by police.

He was videoing the incident himself for a while, and others videoed it as well.   “I’m being assaulted just for the hat I’m wearing,” the man said in his video.

One person responded on Twitter, asking, “What is a Trump supporter doing down there anyways?” and another person responded, “Because we’re supposed to be free in America and go anywhere we want.”

According to Fox News correspondent Will Carr, the crowd has turned violent, blocking the streets screaming at police and throwing bottles.
