President Trump went on a “Twitter storm” early Wednesday morning, in response to comments made a day before by LaVar Ball, whose son was one of the UCLA basketball players busted for shoplifting in China.

President Trump just happened to be in China at the same time, visiting with President Xi, and intervened on the players’ behalf to secure their release from what could have been a lengthy prison sentence.

In an interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo Tuesday, Ball still maintained his earlier position, that he didn’t think Trump had anything to do with getting his son out of prison, and claimed that shoplifting wasn’t a “big deal.”

“Did [Trump] help the boys get out? I don’t know. If I was going to thank somebody, I probably would thank President Xi. He’s in China. He’s the president of China,” Ball said, adding that maybe if President Trump had flown the players home on Air Force One, then he would’ve said “thank you” to Trump.

Wednesday morning, an outraged President Trump tweeted back his reply:

It wasn’t the White House, it wasn’t the State Department, it wasn’t father LaVar’s so-called people on the ground in China that got his son out of a long term prison sentence – IT WAS ME. Too bad! LaVar is just a poor man’s version of Don King, but without the hair. Just think.. …LaVar, you could have spent the next 5 to 10 years during Thanksgiving with your son in China, but no NBA contract to support you. But remember LaVar, shoplifting is NOT a little thing. It’s a really big deal, especially in China. Ungrateful fool!

Trump then addressed the NFL:

The NFL is now thinking about a new idea – keeping teams in the Locker Room during the National Anthem next season. That’s almost as bad as kneeling! When will the highly paid Commissioner finally get tough and smart? This issue is killing your league!…..

Then he jumped back to the topic of LaVar Ball, by re-tweeting a post from another user that said:

The ungratefulness is something I’ve never seen before. If you get someone’s son out of prison, he should be grateful to you! Period. I don’t care. If Hillary got my kid out of prison, as much as I hate the woman, I’d thank her corrupt ass!

Finally, to round out the morning’s Twitter storm, President Trump went to the nation’s economy. He first re-tweeted a tweet from Fox News host Laura Ingraham, who had responded to an opinion editorial from the New York Times.

The NY Times had tweeted, “Charles Manson wasn’t the inevitable outgrowth of the Sixties. If anything, he was a harbinger of today’s far right.”

Ingraham had responded:

“Far right”? You mean “right so far,” as in @realDonaldTrump has been right so far abt how to kick the economy into high gear.

Trump then tweeted,:

Will be having meetings and working the phones from the Winter White House in Florida (Mar-a-Lago). Stock Market hit new Record High yesterday – $5.5 trillion gain since E. Many companies coming back to the U.S. Military building up and getting very strong.
