Milo Yiannopoulos was dropped from an op-ed deal with the Daily Caller after writing only one column. Yiannopoulos announced the change on his Facebook page Saturday afternoon, saying the Daily Caller had “caved to pressure and canceled my weekly column.”

“Sad news: The Daily Caller has caved to pressure and cancelled my weekly column after a day, claiming, falsely, they never planned to run weekly contributions from me,” Yiannopoulos wrote Saturday. “Where will it end? So: no new MILO column for now. This sort of cowardice is why the Right in America loses and will keep losing the culture wars.”

The Daily Caller published a column written by Yiannopoulos on Friday. The political commentator remarked about Hollywood in general and actor Kevin Spacey in particular, over allegations of rampant sexual misconduct in the entertainment industry.

Yiannopoulos makes a number of claims in the piece, including saying that straight people in America are more likely to be fired for their sexuality than LGBT Americans.

“Once upon a time, a teacher might be fired for being gay. These days you’re more likely to be fired for being straight,” Yiannopoulos wrote.

He also had extremely unflattering words for women basketball players, commenting that their locker room’s must have an “ungodly” stench.

Daily Caller Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Ingersoll told CNN that the website asked Yiannopoulos for a column on Spacey, who as been accused of sexual misconduct in several instances.

On Saturday, Ingersoll fired opinion editor Rob Mariani, who had reportedly struck a deal with Yiannopoulos for an unpaid, weekly contribution. Ingersoll said Mariani was let go for “failure to properly convey” the deal he made with Yiannopoulos to him and the website’s CEO.

Neil Patel, co-founder and publisher of the Daily Caller, released a statement saying Yiannopoulos had not been hired by the website.

Yiannopoulos also recently lost the support of billionaire investor Robert Mercer. He commented about that on Facebook, too, writing, “Never mind book publishers — even right-wing media these days are spineless in the face of outrage mobs, Twitter protests and frothing establishment Republicans.”

The Daily Caller’s co-founder is Fox News superstar, Tucker Carlson.
